Easter 2013

On Saturday, we had our Easter egg hunt. Aunt Calli, Uncle Robert, and Uncle Josh helped us fill and hide eggs for the boys in our backyard. Logan kept giving some of the eggs he found to Lucas. Logan is such a great big brother!

Saturday evening we made resurrection cookies. It's a neat hands on way to share the Easter story with the boys. The boys were disappointed that we couldn't eat any cookies until this morning, but were so excited to open the oven and bite into the cookies and see the empt tomb!

The Easter bunny came last night. The Easter bunny is really not a big deal at our house. Logan even asked me this morning what the Easter bunny has to do with Jesus' resurrection. When I told him it really doesn't have anything to do with it, he asked why we had the Easter bunny.  Hmmmm.

Logan and Lucas sang with the children's choir in church this morning. The children did a beautiful job and Lucas stood on stage, did the hand motions, and sang like he was suppose to. Last time he jumped off the stage repeatedly during the performance. You can watch that video here.

"For this is the way God loved the world: He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life."
John 3:16 (NET)

"Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in Me will live even if he dies,'"
John 11:25 (NET)

Happy Resurrection Day 2013!!!

"For if we have become united with Him (Jesus) in the likeness of His death,
we will certainly also be united in the likeness of His resurrection."
Romans 6:5 (NET)

Friday Fun

Friday was a beautiful day! After lunch the boys rode around the neighborhood with Grammie and I chasing behind them. Lucas kept stopping and yelling to Grammie to run so she wouldn't get lost.

Then we made Kool Aid popsicles that the boys enjoyed for their snack this morning. Lucas was amazed that we could make our own popsicles!

We also dyed and decorated Easter eggs! The boys always love doing this. Lucas went sticker crazy with his eggs this year and dyed all of his but one yellow. Logan dyed his eggs each color and wanted an even number of each color. He's his mother's child!

Logan's Easter Verse

Logan has been walking around quoting 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 since Pastor Monty read it in the Journey to the Cross service Wednesday night. It's his Easter verse as he calls it. Here's a video of him saying the verses.

Boys, Boys, Boys!!!

Earlier this week our friends, Jackson and baby Weldon, came to play while their mommy was at the dentist. Logan and Lucas wanted to hold and love on the baby. Logan spent most of the time before he went to school holding Weldon and kissing his forehead-it was so sweet! Lucas wants to do what Logan does, so Luc had a turn too.

Once Logan went to school, Lucas and Jackson played. They played cars, trains, with the wrestlers. Lucas even got a book and "read" it to Jackson. They played so well together while I rocked Weldon to sleep and fed him later on.

I bravely loaded up my car with the three boys and met Jackson and Weldon's mommy and daddy at church's holy week lunch. Mommys (and Daddys!)  who get three or more little ones ready and out the door on time on their own have my complete respect. The boys were so well behaved I'd do it again anytime!

Play Time!

Playing with my boys is so precious to me. Up until this year, I've been a full time working mommy. Being a full time working mommy was so hard because I had so much guilt about all the things I missed and the things I didn't get to do with them because I was working. I was a kindergarten teacher and felt guilty because I was with other people's kids all day while my boys were with my mom. I do know that I was extremely blessed that my mom was the one taking care of them for me, but it was still hard.

Now I teach two days a week and have much more family time. It's been a huge blessing. When I think of playing with my boys I use to automatically think about more structured play like a game or imaginative play with them. But I think the most fun we have playing together are impromptu times or something as simple as tickle time or taking a walk.

Last week Lucas and I had some one on one time. Logan was at school and my mom was at the doctor. It was a beautiful day so Lucas and I went outside. He rode his tricycle and I walked with him up and down the street. We chased each other and giggled.

Now that spring is here, we are looking forward to much more outside playtime!

Holy Week Lunches

Every year our church does Holy Week lunches which is lunch and a devotional relating to the week of Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection. This is the first year I've actually been able to attend. I was so glad for the opportunity to go on Monday and then again today. This year they did not have childcare; so Lucas sat in lunch with me. He did such a good job of staying seated and being quite during the devotionals.

We sat with our friends Karice, Jackson, and baby Weldon. We sat in the back just in case we had to make a quick exit, but thankfully we didn't have too. Lucas and Jackson have become fast friends. Today when our student minister, Jeff, was praying at the devotional, Lucas was trying to get Jackson to close his eyes. He just kept folding his hands in prayer and telling Jackson to close his eyes in his whisper voice. It was really cute.

It has been such a blessing to have extra time with my church family pondering the final week of Jesus before His crucifixion and resurrection. While His death was the ultimate sacrifice for our sins, the cross would be meaningless without His resurrection! My God has power over life and death!!!

Betrayal

Tonight when Joshua walked in the door, I took one look at him and lost it.

"Joshua Paul, I can't believe you!"
"What did I do?"
"Your tie!"
"You don't like my new tie? I bought it today."
"Nope!"
"Why not?"
"Those are Auburn's colors!"
"Kaydi, you're ridiculous."
"Yep...hope you kept the receipt."

No I won't really make him take it back, but I'll probably vomit a little in my mouth every time he wears it. Just...kidding...maybe.

*Auburn is the Tide's biggest rival.
**This only a slight exaggeration of the truth.

Family Movie Night

The boys are snuggled up with us enjoying family movie night! We are watching The Tooth Fairy with the Rock. The boys love this movie. They laugh throughout the entire movie every time we watch it. I'm thankful for sweet, snuggly boys tonight, well once wild man Lucas settled down.

Our Sonic Addiction

The boys and I are kind of addicted to Sonic happy hour. We would go everyday if we could, but usually go once or twice a week. Yesterday after I picked Logan up from school, we went to Sonic. Both boys are addicted to onion rings, and I blame their Pepaw (my dad) for that! They know their Pepaw LOVES onion rings. Last week, Logan wanted to send a picture to Pepaw of him eating onion rings-yesterday it was Lucas' turn. It's a good thing their Pepaw loves these stinky boys so much!

Logan's Motorcycle Mayhem

Logan's favorite thing about going to Grandma and Papaw's is riding his motorcycle. He loves feeling the wind in his face while he rides. Logan is so careful when he rides-he's our most cautious child for sure. He could ride for hours.

Lucas' Four Wheeling Fun

Lucas thinks he's as big as his brothers. Especially when he's at Grandma and Papaw's house. He loves to ride his four wheeler, and it is his four wheeler. Papaw runs behind Lucas so he can pull the kill switch if Lucas drives too fast and does not slow down when he's told to. Lucas loves the freedom of driving the four wheeler! It's one of his favorite things about going to Grandma and Papaw's.

Wordless Wednesday: Tickle Time

Disciple Now 2013: Reflect

We had so much hosting middle school girls for Disciple Now this past weekend. Our theme was Reflect and we learned ways to better reflect Jesus in our daily lives. I enjoyed our speaker and loved spending time with the girls. My boys LOVED having the girls there too. On Sunday morning before church, I took a picture of all the girls, and the girls wanted a picture with my boys. My boys were thrilled. Logan is already asking how old he has to be to go to Disciple Now.

Our key verse for the weekend:
"and to put on the new man who has been created in God's image-
in righteousness and holiness that come from the truth."
Ephesians 4:24 (NET)
