Happy Birthday, Grammie

We celebrated Grammie's birthday last night. Calli and the girls were able to join mom, the boys, and I at Johnny Carino's for dinner. With our four kiddos, meals together are becoming very entertaining. The girls really just wanted the attention of the boys. Justice wanted the boys to carry her everywhere. And she wanted them to chase her. After dinner, we came back to our house and had cupcakes from Big D's Bakery. Everyone loved their cupcake!

Happy Birthday, Gram! We love you!

AWANA Pinewood Derby 2015

This afternoon was the Pinewood Derby at AWANA. This is one of my family's favorite events! The boys love making their cars with Daddy. Of course they love the racing part too!

Race day began with the cubbie racing matchbox cars. Lucas is looking forward to racing big boy cars next year!

Then the Sparkies and T&T kids raced.

Finally the grown ups raced! Joshua raced against Chris, Kelli, and Brice. Joshua had a lot of fun. Lucas helped him build his car.

Ms. Kelli handed out the awards at the end of the race. Lucas received a participation ribbon.

Logan won third place for design!

Joshua won first place for design and second place for speed!

It was a fun race day for the Shaw boys!

Pump It Up

This morning we celebrated our friend Lauren at Pump It Up. They had a blast as they always do. They had some new bounce houses in the second room, and they had the glow party in the second room.  One of the bounce houses looked like the Wipe Out balls. It quickly became Lucas's favorite. He jumped all the way across without falling off each time.

Lunch Date with Lucas

Today was Lucas's turn for a lunch date. He chose Chick-Fil-a. We ate chicken nuggets and waffle fries. He played. It's funny how different the boys are. Logan won't play on the play area by himself or with kids he doesn't know. Lucas just wants to play. He traded his toy for an ice cream. He told me he could it by himself, and he did. It's hard to believe my baby boy is so big. I'm thankful for my time with Luc today!

Lunch Date with Logan

Today Logan and I went to lunch at In-N-Out Burger. Back in January he earned a free hamburger coupon for being diligent in English. I promised him we would go over Spring Break by ourselves. He was super excited this morning when I told him today was finally the day. It was our first time to eat there. It was pretty good. I wouldn't wait in a long line drive thru line like I do for Chick-Fil-A though. The best part was conversation with my Logan. He was excited to find Bible verses on their food packaging. John 3:16 he knows by heart. Then we looked up the other verses on my phone to read and briefly talked about what they meant. I'm thankful for some one on one time with my Lo!

Playing in the Rain

Today has been a rainy day. The boys have been asking to go out to jump. And I've been telling them no because it's cool and rainy. The house suddenly became quiet and I knew the boys were up to something. Of course, they had snuck outside to jump.

As I peeked through the blinds, I realized I had a choice to make at that moment. I could scold them, bring them inside, and clean them up. Or just let them play. They've come in the house soaking wet from playing in the snow and ice four different days within the last two weeks. They've played in temperatures twenty to thirty degrees colder than it is now. So I decided to just let them play. I had about forty-five minutes of peace-listening to them in the backyard running and playing together. The best part, they got along the entire time.

Sometimes you just need to play in the rain. Today was one of those times.

Spring Break Has Begun

Joshua surprised with an afternoon of fun yesterday.

First he took us to eat lunch at Cotton Patch.

Then he took us to play Putt-Putt. The boys love Putt-Putt and are such good sports when they play. Lucas even made a hole-in-one this time! And Joshua won like he always does.

And it wouldn't be a trip to Putt Putt if Daddy didn't have to retrieve a ball from the water at least once. This time Daddy got to do it twice. And Lucas ended up falling off the bench onto Logan's head and making Logan face plant on the concrete. Never a dull moment with these boys.

Our last stop was to the high school so the boys could ride their bikes and scooters in the parking lot. They loved having plenty of room to ride.
