A Timely Reminder

Our church has been doing the Read the Bible for Life study during Sunday school time. The lesson I did today was focusing on the different teaching methods Jesus used (comparisons, hyperbole, parables, etc.).

The passage that went with the teaching was Matthew 6:25-7:29. The bulk of the study focused on Matthew 6:25-34 about not being anxious tomorrow. I've read this passage many times since a child, but a couple of verses really stood out to me.
"Look at the birds of the air:
they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns,
and yet your Heavenly Father feeds them.
Are you not of more value than they?"
Matthew 6:26

"And why are you anxious about clothing?
Consider the lilies of the field,
how they grow:
they neither toil nor spin,
yet I tell you,
even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these."
Matthew 6:28-29

I have allowed myself to worry about things that are mostly out of my control. If I trust the God who provides for birds and flowers and sacrificed His Son for a relationship with me to give me eternal life, then I can surely hand my worries over to Him and trust Him to provide for and take care of the concerns I have.

Logan's Kindergarten Concert

Logan has his kindergarten concert tonight. He was so cute and did such an awesome job! I'll be uploading videos of his songs soon. Here he is before the concert ready to sing 3 Little Kittens  and with his friend Rylan.

Here's our little friend Cameron watching the performance.

Here's Lucas waiting for his bubba to start singing.

Here's little Katie Bug after the performance-I love my Katie Bug!

I'm so proud of my sweet Logan and the awesome job he did during the performance!

Sweet Logan

Logan has such a sweet spirit and compassionate heart. Logan had a very rough morning today. He didn't want to get up. He didn't like the clothes I picked out. Starbucks was out of the organic chocolate milk in the carton, and he didn't like the chocolate milk they made him. Logan threw a fit before we left the house and was yelling at me. This morning on the playground during recess, Logan came to me and apologized for yelling at me and making me have a rough morning like him because of the way he was acting. It's an incredible thing to watch God begin to work in your child's life. I know God has amazing plans for Logan and I can't wait to see how He uses Logan's sweet spirit and compassionate heart to bring Him glory!

Here's Logan at school when we had our Easter egg number hunt.

Oh, Lucas...

When little Lucas Elisha entered our world on August 12th, he was so calm and laid back. He was a good sleeper, eater, self entertainer, etc. I just knew I finally got my easy child. Logan is not really difficult, but very opinionated with a stubborn streak. Lucas is really starting to come into his own. Testing us, our boundaries-trying to figure out who he is. He's got quite a little personality. We've never had a problem taking our boys out to eat. I mean occasionally they would get a little loud or try to crawl under the table, but normally they settle down pretty quickly. Then today we went to Beto's for lunch after church and Lucas started and would not stop. He was loud and talking to the people in the booths in front and behind us. When we corrected him, he ignored us or laughed. I guess it's a good thing the older couples around us thought he was cute.

Park Playdate

Over the Easter weekend, we grabbed some Chick-fil-a and met Rikki and the girls at the park to eat lunch and play. Logan loved pushed baby Hannah and Lauren in the swings. We are so blessed to have friends the boys love so much and get along so well with. It was so nice to get together. Rikki and I both work so it's hard to get together.

Hunting for Easter Eggs

On Saturday morning, we went to our church for an Easter egg hunt. The boys made bracelet to use to share the plan of salvation.

Before the egg hunt, they shared the plan of salvation with the kids using different colored balloons. Each child got a balloon. They had to remember what they color stood for so they could get it blown up before they left. Here's the boys with their special eggs (the ones with the balloon).

Here's the boys with their eggs after the hunt.

After the hunt, the boys enjoyed some popcorn and some bounce house fun!

When we got home from church on Sunday, Uncle Josh hid Easter eggs in the backyard for the boys to find. We finished our egg hunt just before it began raining. The boys had so much fun!

Easter Morning

The Easter Bunny brought some treats for my sweet boys this morning. Logan and Lucas were so excited about the wrestlers they found in their baskets, and Justin loved that we bought him Catching Fire, so he can start reading it as soon as he finishes The Hunger Games.

I made the boys these special place mats for the Easter breakfast I made them. I baked them some cinnamon rolls and added sprinkles on top. I arranged them to look like a flower. I think the boys loved the place mats more than their special breakfast.

Happy Resurrection Day!

"For God so loved the world  He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him may not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16

"For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,"
1 Corinthians 15:3-4

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,"
1 Peter 1:3

He is risen! Christ is risen indeed! Happy Easter!

Love,

The Shaws
