Monday Night Raw in Dallas

A week ago today WWE's Monday Night Raw came to the American Airlines Center in Dallas. Of course daddy took his boys! The boys were so excited. Lucas came home with a John Cena shirt, Logan a Randy Orton shirt, and Daddy a Little Jimmy shirt. They had a blast!

Logan's First Day of First Grade

On August 15th, Logan started first grade at UME Prep. His classes start at 10:30am and end at 3:30pm. We got up, dropped Grammie off at Parkland, and then grabbed some Chick-fil-a and came home to eat breakfast and get ready for school.

Logan loves wearing an uniform. The only part he doesn't like is having to keep his shirt tucked in.

He's Lukie with his brother. When we left Logan at Luc cried because he wanted to stay with brother. When I finally got him to the car, he cried because he wanted to Logan to come with us. I was very proud of myself, I didn't cry when I left him. It was hard though; I've never left him like that and been at home. He did go to TLC for preschool, but I was at work, and my mom dropped him off and picked him up. I was glad that he goes to our friend Leigh Ann's class on the days I do not teach.

UME stands for University Model of Education. Logan has different teachers for each class. On Monday/Wednesday/Friday, Logan attends music, computer applications, English, and History. On Tuesday/Thursday, Logan has PE, Science, and Math. He has assignments to complete at home for all of his classes. Our friend Mrs. Eddlemon is English teacher and I am his Science teacher! I teach Grade 1 Science and Grade 4 Math on Tuesday/Thursday. I teach two sections of each. Between my four classes I have several friends and friends of friends in my classes.
Since school started on Wednesday, Lucas and I dropped Logan off and then headed home. Grammie took Luc and I to McAlister's for lunch. Here's Lucas enjoying his sweet tea!
We are so thankful Logan is getting an awesome college preparatory education with more time spent at home with us. We are also so thankful that God has given me the opportunity to teach (my passion) two days a week and be at home more with the boys (what I've wanted for a long time)!

Lunch and Museum Trip

We took a trip to the Fort Worth Children's Museum today and stopped at Dairy Queen on the way to each lunch. It was their first time to eat something other than ice cream at DQ; they were very impressed!

Then we headed over to the museum. The boys had so much fun playing with their daddy!

We also watched the Family Laser Lights show at the Planetarium.

We also explored the Grossology exhibits. The boys LOVED this!

Lucas was having so much fun; he threw a fit when we left.

Chloe's 3rd Birthday Party

We enjoyed some swimming fun at Aunt Calli's house for our little cousin Chloe's birthday party. Chloe and Lucas are almost exactly a month apart in age. Chloe is my cousin  Heather's baby. Heather brought a bunch of water toys for Calli's pool. I think the big boys (my hubby included) had more fun squirting people and playing in the water than the kids did!

I love my baby brother so much!!!

Happy 3rd Birthday Chlo Chlo!!!! We love you so much!!!!

Last Day of Summer for this Teacher

Goodbye summer...hello 2012-2013 school year! We started the day by visiting our friends Heather, Siah, and Gray at Miss Janice's house before they headed home to Arkansas. Miss Janice was so kind to make pancakes and bacon for us! We enjoyed a few more precious moments and saying goodbye to our sweet friends.

*I hate that this picture is so blurry.

We went home and spent some time with Daddy before he headed in to close at work. Then we ate lunch and went to Walmart. They still do NOT have construction paper in stock and I'm starting to get very irritated! Then we headed to Kroger for some grocery shopping; trying to find things Logan will eat that are not starches is very difficult, but he has been good to try everything I have asked him to. Because they were so fabulous in the grocery store, we stopped at Sonic for a happy hour vanilla coke.

After putting up the groceries, we headed out to the mall to get Logan's school shoes. We wanted to get a pair of black and a pair of brown TOMS, but they only had brown in his size so Grammie bought Lo and Luc brown TOMS. Logan has to wear socks with his TOMS at school so she bought him some no show socks too.

Then we headed home and ate dinner. We have been watching the Olympics and relaxing. It's been a pretty peaceful end to my summer and I'm super excited to start my school year at UME Prep tomorrow!

Update on Logan's Tummy Troubles

" The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer,
my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge,
my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold."
Psalm 18:2

As most of you know, Logan had an EGD and colonoscopy on July 16th. Logan was so excited because our friends the Jefferies made him a little goody bag that included markers, a journal, and fruit ninja game cards along with a sweet card and a few other things for him to do while he waited for his procedure at the surgery center.
The doctor found an inflamed spot on his esophagus and on his rectum. To treat the spot on his esophagus, they put Logan on a steroid that he takes orally mixed with 5 packets of Splenda and enough water to make it 10ml. He takes it twice a day, and it hypes him and is starting to make his more easily agitated and upset. He has to take it for the next two months.

His doctor also referred us to an allergist because the spot on his esophagus is a condition that they call EE (for short)  which is caused by a food or environmental allergen. Logan goes for allergy testing on August 22nd. He will be back in school, but we were able to get an 8am appointment and since he doesn't go to school until 10:30 he'll only be a few minutes late if he's late at all.

EE is a fairly recent condition (has only been being treated in the last 10-15 years). Because of it's newness, they have not narrowed down a specific sets of allergy tests to give so they will start with major common food allergies and depending on the results, they will decided if Logan needs further testing.

The inflammation on his rectum is caused by his body not having enough of the enzyme that helps him process starches. Because of this Logan is on a low starch diet-he's only allowed 1-3 servings of starches a day. He will be on this diet for the next 4-6 weeks. Once the symptoms disappear, we can slowly add starches back in his diet to see where his limit is. This diet has been so hard for him because almost everything he loves to eat is a starch! He's been a real trooper and I"m so proud of him. He hasn't really complained about the diet or taking the steroid twice a day.

The day after his procedure Miss Leslie one of the teenagers from our church came to visit Logan and check on him. Leslie brought him a card and a monkey. He loves her so much and felt so special because she came to visit him!
Logan will have to have another colonoscopy and EGD on September 17th for them to go back and make sure their diagnoses is correct and Logan is getting better. We ask that you continue to pray for Logan and for our family as we continue to seek answers to help Logan's tummy troubles. We thank you so much for all the prayers, encouragement, and support you have given Logan and our family on this journey.

We know God has a purpose and a plan for this and our desire is for HIM to be glorified through this journey and that we would all be more like HIM on the other side.

"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord,
plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you.
You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart."
Jeremiah 29:11-13
