AWANA Grand Prix

Back in May, our church had it first annual AWANA Grand Prix. Logan had so much fun racing his car and cheering on his friends. I was so proud of him because once his car got out, he had such a good attitude, he just cheered on his friends who were winning and was excited for them.

Summer Reading Club

Yesterday, I took the boys to the Grand Prairie public library to sign up for the summer reading club. It brought back a lot of memories from my childhood because Mom always signed us up for the summer reading club and library activities. I remember one time Calli and I got to spend the night at the library. The boys were so excited to do what Mommy, Aunt Calli, and Uncle Josh used to do. They had lots of different vehicles out for the kids to climb in and explore. Here they are in

an ambulance,

 on a tractor,

 in a bulldozer,

 in a firetruck,

on the back of the firetruck,

 and in a dump truck.
Aren't they sweet?!

Then we went inside listened to the children's librarian read Officer Buckle and Gloria. We signed up for the reading club,  and then found some books to check out.

After lunch, we had some "school" time, reading time, and rest time.

Summer is off to a great start!

Ahhh Summer Nights

I love summer! We tend to do a lot more impromptu get togethers. Last night, Rikki texted me and offered to bring over hamburger meat and hot dogs for Brice to grill and the kids could play. The boys were so excited and had so much playing with the girls.

Here's sweet Hannah Grace eating her snackie.

The kids swam in our pool, jumped on the trampoline (jumpoline as Lauren calls it), and played in the sandbox.

Our kids play so well together! It was such a fun, relaxing evening.

Celebrating Unbirthdays

Back in May we went to the "barn" park to celebrate Melody and Chelsea's unbirthdays before they moved to Paris, TX. The boys had so much playing with their friends and eating cookie cake.

Bittersweet

Yesterday was the end of an important chapter in my life. Seven years ago I began my journey as a kindergarten teacher in Grand Prairie ISD. I was hired at Houston Elementary which was the school attended from first through fourth grades. After 3 years, I moved with my principal at the time Jean Nunez to open Hobbs Williams. Most of my very best friends from Houston also went to Hobbs.

I am so excited that I'll only be working two days a week and will be able to be home more with my boys! However, it was a lot harder to say goodbye yesterday than I thought it would be. I cried while saying my final goodbyes and when I left my empty classroom for the last time. On the last day of school, my friend Robin came down with her third graders for our final reading buddies session. I stepped out of the room for a few minutes and came back to this:

I just couldn't erase it...so I took a picture and then left it. The teacher who replaces me will have to erase it. Some of the third graders who signed the board were my kinder babies the year we opened Hobbs. Robin and I have been reading buddies for 7 years...I think I'll have to go read to her class next year.
