Finishing Touch in the Kitchen

Today Josh came to visit his nephews and put this up in the kitchen for me. I love it-this is my favorite thing in my "new" kitchen!

I ordered it from Etsy on a Wednesday and received it the following Monday. If I order wall vinyl decals again, it will definitely be from this shop.

Boys' Favorite Books

My boys have always loved books and reading! I read to them every night during my pregnancies, and I think that is part of the reason why they've always been drawn to books.

Logan is beginning to be able to read "real" books on his own. He is drawn to anything that he can read by himself. Right now, he loves Biscuit, David, Clifford, and Super Hero books. Logan received a Kindle Fire HD for Christmas from my in laws, and we have several books downloaded for him to read. We are also reading a lot about elephants because that is his research topic for English.

Lucas loves The Gingerbread Pirates, David, and Super Hero books. His favorite super hero book right now is The Amazing Spiderman.

I'm glad my boys enjoying reading because as a teacher, I see first hand that children who are good readers and enjoy reading, do better in school. Books take you places you may not otherwise be able to go. A good book is an adventure you'll always be glad you took!

"The more that you read, the more things you will know.
The more things that you learn, the more places you will go."

Logan's Research Project

For English, Logan is researching elephants. On Monday, he chose elephants as his topic and created the cover page for his research folder. Last night we found information online, and read about elephants. In class today, they made their folder which included four questions to guide his research. Today he took notes on index cards to answer the questions. He remembered the information from our reading yesterday, but we went back to our articles to make sure his information was correct before writing it down. Writing is a struggle for Logan, but he was excited to write what he's learned! I think this is his favorite English project so far.

Lucas' Train Table Collision

Lucas collided with the train table. He sliced his ear open. There was blood EVERY where! Scared me for so much blood to come out of a little one. It bled more than his head gnash did. Poor Lucas is going to end up with all the scars. And it's on the same side as his head gnash scar. The first picture was taken right after it happened. The second picture was taken before bed tonight.

Celebrating Grammie

On Saturday, we took Grammie to the Cotton Patch to celebrate her birthday. Calli, Robert, and Josh were able to come with us. Of course the boys were excited because the family was all together! We skipped cake this time because we had cake on her actual birthday and opted for dessert instead. I laughed at my sister who got the veggie plate with a salad, mac n cheese, fried okra, and black eye peas. Meat kind of disgusts her at this point in pregnancy. We are thankful for another year with Grammie!

Family Walk

We're trying to start a new after dinner routine that includes a walk. Tonight the boys rode their bikes around the neighborhood while Joshua and I walked. Logan really wants to run it. I've got to work up to being able to run with him. The boys were already asking to do it tomorrow after dinner.
