A Little Bit of Hope

     I've been heavy hearted the last couple of days for several friends who are grieving losses. My heart certainly understands the weight of grief and depths of sorrow and pain. This morning as I was praying, this verse came to mind:

"The LORD is close to the brokenhearted;
He rescues those whose spirits are crushed."
Psalm 34:18 (NLT)

     Then in class this morning, a beautiful thing happened. We were having our moment of silence, when I looked up to see more than half of my second graders with heads bowed and hands folded in prayer. And just like that hope shone a little bit brighter. My eyes were filled with tears and my heart was so encouraged and convicted.

     Lord, make me as courageous as my students.

Lucas and Homework

     Lucas surprised me today with his homework. As I was heating up his mini cheeseburgers, I told him we would do homework when he was done eating. I turn around, and he's working on his homework. It was almost completely done. It's a little messy, but he did it on his own! I'm so proud of him for being so responsible!

Our Week in Pictures

Sunday~We enjoyed lunch at On the Border after church to celebrate an awesome children's choir performance.

Monday~Jenna and I had coffee and waffles at Glazed after dropping the kids off at school. It was glorious! Sadly I took no pictures though.

Tuesday~The boys had swim lessons. Both continue to make so much progress each week. I'm so, so proud of them!

Wednesday~The boys wore their AJ McCarron Bama jerseys for Sports Night at AWANA.

Thursday~Lucas had his 5 year we'll check. And we had a storm with horrific winds move through. Thankfully we had minimal damage (5 shingles off our roof), and only lost power for about thirty minutes. We have friends still without power today. Their swim lesson was cancel because the rec center was without power.

Friday~We celebrated JJ's first birthday.

Saturday~We've had a lazy day at home.

JJ's First Birthday

     Last night, we celebrated JJ's first birthday. Calli did a Minnie Mouse theme. J's dress was made by my friend, Christine who has an Etsy shop with her niece called Darling Charlotte. I found the ears at Target in the party section. It was a small family party with just our side of the family. They celebrated with Rob's family last week. Calli made spaghetti. She also made a yellow cake with chocolate frosting. JJ was more interested in the wrapping paper than the presents. We were glad to celebrate JJ and love on CJ!
