A Weekend of Friends

After a busy week of VBS, we had a busy weekend with friends.

We celebrated our sweet JoyJoy's 7th birthday on Saturday. Joy and her sisters, Lilly and Grace, are like sisters to the boys. They love them and aggravate them just like siblings. The girls are super sweet, love them, and put up with their boy antics.

Joy's party was on her daddy's birthday, so we sang Happy Birthday to Mr. Scott too.

Sunday after church, a lot of friends ended up at Dickey's for lunch. Our friend, Jadon hung out with us for a bit.

These boys are too funny together.

    We love our friends!

Journey Off the Map VBS 2015

This past week was VBS at our church. The boys loved every minute of it and learned so much about Jesus through the stories of Daniel and his three friends! This morning was VBS family day, so Mrs. Rachel shared a recap of what the kids learned each day, and the kids along with their teachers sang all of the songs they learned this week. It was exciting to see so many family visiting this morning with their kids!

VBS Motto:

This is the way. Walk in it.

VBS Theme Verse:

Whether you turn to the right or to the left,
your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying,
"This is the way; walk in it."
Isaiah 30:21 (NIV)

The Blanket Hostage Taker

Lucas likes to take my blanket hostage.

Earlier this week I heard this little voice say, "If you give me a burrito, I'll give you your blanket." I don't usually negotiate with terrorists, but I handed over the burrito and no one got hurt.

This morning I was reading in Proverbs when I realized my blanket was gone. Of course, Lucas had it again.

How can you get upset with this precious face?!

Celebrating Nine Years

Yesterday we celebrated nine years of marriage. Joshua actually surprised me and took the afternoon off. I had to coordinate STAAR retest yesterday, so when I texted my mom to pick me up, Joshua came instead. I saw his car down at the corner of the parking lot, and said to the girls at the front that it looked like my husband's car, but it couldn't be because he was in North Richland Hills. Finally he pulled up in front of the school and, I saw it was him!

We went to Chili's for lunch. It was where we had our first date, and we had a gift card Scott and Leah had given us a while back.

Then we went to see Jurassic World in IMAX 3D. We loved it! My only complaint was it was super loud. Louder than normal, but I'm sure we'll be purchasing that movie when it releases.

Then we came home and had a chill evening with the boys.

Happy nine years, Joshua!!! I love you more each day!

Father's Day

Joshua was happy to have all of his boys yesterday. We had breakfast and presents before church.

The children's choir sang with the adult choir in the church yesterday morning. It brought back fond childhood memories for me of when I used to sing with the adult choir in church.

Then we spent a relaxing day at home watching the movies the boys bought Daddy.

Happy Father's Day, Joshua!!! We love you and are so glad you belong to us!

Ronald McDonald Story Time

We want to the library after lunch to get new books, and it also happened to be story time. Ronald McDonald was there to share four things with the kids.

1. Visit the library often.
2. Read with excitement and picture what you read. (I LOVED this part of the program!!!!)
3. Read every day.
4. Take care of books.

During the read with excitement and picture what you read part, Ronald modeled what boring and exciting reading sounded like so the kids could tell the difference.

Then he read a story about a rainstorm and had half the kids be the wind, half be the rain and thunder, and the adults be the lightning. He pointed to each group as their part came up in the story. I thought it was a great concrete way to introduce visualizing what you read.

My boys loved the program as much I did. They loved the read with excitement and picture what you read part too! Ronald was available for pictures afterward, but the boys didn't really want to get close to him. When I asked if they wanted a picture with Ronald, Lucas gave this look and said, "Seriously?!".

     Gotta love that boy!

The boys chose some new books to read so they can add to their summer reading log. They have almost filled up their first log. We should be trading the logs for prizes by next week.
